TWLC: Word Counter Added

word_counter.pngFor those eager to know the status of Book III of TWLC, I’ve conveniently added a progress indicator widget to the right-hand sidebar entitle “Word Counter.” I’ve done this as much for your benefit as for my accountability. The sheer magnitude of my work-load has forced me to push my love for writing aside this past year, something I can not afford to do if nothing else for my own sanity.

Amidst all the ministry I’m involved with, as well as the business ventures, the Lord has been reminding me of my “poet’s heart,” if you will. Denying the gifts and virtues of our lives is often permissible, at least for a time; if given too a long a place in the darkness, however, part of our divinely inspired identity begins to rot. And as gangrene can eventually infect the entire body, so too will a gift that lays dormant for too long a period.

The too loves of my life outside of my family, public ministry and entrepreneurship, is writing music and writing stories. I endeavor to see those gifts brought back into their proper relationship with the others in 2008.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

CH

You ROCK! You’re just about a third done! I didn’t write much over the holiday, but started back into last night. I am only 10% or so into my project; things are moving along though. I added a word counter to my blog as well, and I changed my work schedule to accommodate more writing time.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy, but I guess I have to.

    Peace.

Ever thought of having The White Lion Chronicles translated to Chinese? French? Just curious.

  3. Shane Deal says:

Know how you feel. I think writing is what I’ve been called to do, but finding the time for it can be a challenge. I love word meters. My favourite being the one found here:

    http://www.zokutou.co.uk/wordmeter/

  4. Thanks for the comments bros. Yeah…a third of the way there. Feels like not a lot, though. But it’s something. Way to go on your work, Chris! Nice word count meter, Shane. Thanks for the link. And Chinese? If you sold books to at least 1/1000 of a % of the population, you’d be a millionaire, right Mooney?

    Hmmm…I like it. ;)

  5. Good! Remember who you are….

  6. Connie says:

Haha … you should see what I’ve got to do. I’m trying to convert a story from RPG style to novel style. With all of the “out of character” comments, the story is over 220k words. So far I’ve edited … 9k. You’re doing a lot better than I am, my friend.

Now, if I only I didn’t have to work full-time…

  7. Hey, Sir Christopher, I hereby appoint meself honorary kick-you-in-the-rear Accountability Friend–to see that you get after that writing bit.

I’ve got a wee little widget tracking my next book as well. As of now, it’s not quite past 10K. EEP.

  8. Connie says:

You mean … I’ve gotten farther than Sir Wayne? Sweet!

*ahem*, I mean … uh, keep it at it Sir Wayne! *runs from sword*

I guess it’s kinda hard to write when you don’t really have character names yet ;)

I should put one of those widgets on my blog, too, I guess.

  9. Hmmm…do I hear a friendly competition arising here?

    CH

  10. Connie says:

Haha, if you wish. Although, I’m at a slight disadvantage, as I don’t have a sword!

I’ve got my word counter on my blog :)

  11. Shane Deal says:

I’ve got a nice spiffy word counter on my blog too. :D

I’ve got two swords. Which to me is way cool. A pirate sword (Same as the one on “Isle of Swords” cover) and a celtic claymore sword. Both are quite nice, but the claymore has quite a few scratches on the blade. Neither of them are battle worthy. Pity. Brian Davis’s website pointed me in the direction of Real Armor of God which has quite a selection of functional and very nice looking swords of just about any sort. I’m like in total online shopping heaven looking around there. :)

  12. Connie says:

I love that website … if only I could afford some of that stuff! I want to get a sword so bad, though…

  13. Shane,

John Cooper over at Real Armor of God is an amazing, sincere guy. We love him to bits as well as his products (you may remember him sponsoring the Fantasy Fiction Tour last summer). Give him lots of business and tell all your friends about him!

When you want a custom sword, full battle-ready (aka “live steel”), check out JP Heimrick up in Quebec:

    http://www.heimrick.netfirms.com

He’s a brother in the Lord and makes combat-ready swords for half the cost you’ll find elsewhere. He’s an awesome guy, too!

For me, the more banged up a sword, the better. I’ve actually studied medieval long-sword, so that helps. To see a real sword after it’s been thoroughly used is quite impressive–dinged, gashed and rusted. Of course, I have a few I’ve brought back from Toledo, Spain that are like museum pieces–I don’t touch those. But others in my collection have done what they’re made to do…

    KILL!

    Umm…yeah.

Sorry about that. I got a little carried away. No killing here.

    CH

  14. Connie says:

Only if you’re killing Dairne-Reih, right?

  15. Roheryn says:

Depends on what world your in as to what it ish okay to kill. :P

Hey, something ish better than nothing, right? As long as ya write a little bit at a time, your doing something, even if it doesn’t seem like much at the time… it contributes to the whole…

and that’s Roh’s words of wisdom for 2007… got ‘em in just in time

  16. Riiiiight…

Dairne-Reih! Exactly what I was thinking.

And thanks for the words of wisdom, Roh! Glad you stopped by!

    CH

  17. Shane Deal says:

    Christopher,

I’m hoping to give Armor of God lots of business, I’ve got my eye on several items there. :D I will tell my friends about it.

Thanks for the link… Looks cool!

That’s cool about the banged up swords.

Oh it’s easy to get carried away with things… I know.

    -Shane

  18. Sharon Hinck says:

    Hooray!
I’m so glad to see you making this (among your many gifts) a priority as you dive into 2008!

Like another poet, shepherd/king David, you are a man after God’s own heart, and I know He’ll bless many with your next powerful story.

    Now BACK TO WORK!
