Ditch the Crap

I followed this guy home from church yesterday.

At 40mph.

He was nice enough to pull over after a few miles and let me pass. Though his apparent venture became an enigma to me.

The city dump was in the opposite direction. So I can only imagine her was going to his house. A private land fill perhaps? Perhaps he’s a Hoarder, or trying desperately to make his barn eligible for a visit from American Pickers.

As I was listening to Paul Dunk preach at New Life about resisting the natural inclination of our flesh to superimpose our past experiences onto that of our future, I couldn’t imagine a better word picture than this guy’s truck.

Not only is the past a terrible means by which to imagine our future, but it’s ugly, chaotic, slows us down and slows others down.

Emphasis on that last attribute.

Often we’re so self-consumed that we fail to recognize our personal struggles are also inhibiting the success of those God’s placed us around.

So you don’t just owe it to yourself to walk in freedom, you owe it to those around you who will taste freedom because of your obedience.

Ditch the crap. Jesus made you prettier than that. And faster too.
