A note from my studio

After 23 years, my wife finally convinced me to put my paintings online. Cover Reimaginings brings that part of my life together with the stories we share.

Your votes on Discord and Facebook helped me choose Ruins of the Earth, Book One. I drew Wic on the Brooklyn Bridge with his trusty rifle, Sir Charles, in their bid to save New York from the Androchidan invasion. The Ink original and prints are available now, and I’m working on a separate Watercolor original.

I like to think that sharing my artwork is my protest against digital encroachment. Pencil on paper does something for my soul that pixels can’t.

Thanks for joining the revolt.

About the editions

What makes a hand embellished print different?

I sign the edition of 25 in pencil, numbered 1 through 25, and draw a gold chop in the margin. The hand embellished edition adds selective hand coloring to five prints, signed and numbered 1 through 5. I selectively add color to each print with watercolor, watercolor markers, ink, and pencil, usually focusing on Wic, the central figure. I leave much of the surrounding scene in black and white, so each print has its own color treatment. The open edition is unsigned and unnumbered.

How are the limited editions counted?

Each version has its own two numbered editions: five hand embellished prints, signed and numbered 1 through 5, and 25 signed prints, numbered 1 through 25. The Ink and Watercolor versions have separate edition counts. Watercolor originals and prints are forthcoming. Edition numbers follow purchase order. The first buyer receives #1, continuing through #25 for signed prints and #5 for hand embellished prints.

What comes with an original?

Each original comes framed, with a personal note from me, a signed card of provenance, and a signed artist’s proof print of the same piece. The proof is marked A/P and sits outside the numbered editions.

The image measures 6.625 × 10.25 inches. This is the drawing size, not the outside frame size.

Paper, framing, and provenance

The originals are drawn on 117 lb Strathmore Mixed Media paper.

All prints are 11 × 14 inches on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm. All hand embellished and signed and numbered prints come unframed with a signed card of provenance. Open edition prints also ship unframed.

Why do the prints have cover lettering?

The originals are the drawings themselves. The logotype, the Big Fat Bunny badge, the credit block, and the copyright line are added digitally for the print versions only.
